Ker & Downey Africa wants to help you live out your full Mad Max fantasy.
The luxury travel company, headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa, just unveiled a new safari inspired by George Miller’s legendary film franchise. The simply named Mad Max Safari will spotlight some of Namibia’s most remote and breathtaking destinations, allowing travelers to experience the same untamed wilderness featured in the five dystopian action flicks.
Mad Max is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland that is at once striking and surreal. The new, fully customizable itinerary showcases equally powerful landscapes, ranging from the sweeping dunes of Sossusvlei to the vast deserts of Damaraland to the rugged mountains and sprawling plains of Kaokoland.

Unlike the films, you won’t be fighting with violent warlords over natural resources. Quite the contrary, the high-end expedition includes private chartered flights, stays in upscale hotels, and memorable experiences like traditional game drives and hot-air balloon rides. You will also have the opportunity to put pedal to the metal like Max or Furiosa, with plenty of dune driving on the cards.
“This itinerary is fully customizable and perfect for travelers seeking exhilarating adventure in dramatic landscapes while connecting with local cultures,” Ker & Downey Africa COO Jenieen van den Heever said in a statement.
You can stay in Damaraland’s stunning Onduli Enclave.

Ker & Downey experts will carefully tailor itineraries to meet the preferences of each guest. A typical Mad Max safari may include two-night stays at &Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge, the Strand Hotel in Swakopmund, the luxe Onduli Enclave in Damaraland, and a boutique lodge nestled at the base of the Omboroko Mountains. Standout experiences include a scenic flight to Kaokoland to explore fascinating Himba culture, a private guided leopard tracking adventure, and an exclusive gin tasting session and three-course dinner at Stillhouse Atlantic. Van den Heever says the flight over Swakopmund and the Skeleton Coast is the “absolute highlight,” though.
Ker & Downey isn’t the only travel company offering itineraries with a pop-culture twist. Red Savannah previously unveiled trips inspired by films such as Ferrari and Gladiator II, while Black Tomato has crafted adventures in honor of the James Bond franchise and TV shows Yellowstone and Ripley. Clearly, there is a subset of jetsetters looking to follow in the footsteps of their favorite characters.
The itinerary includes a full-day Sandwich Harbour tour with exhilarating dune driving.

“Our Mad Max-inspired journey offers a bold, unforgettable way to discover Namibia—from the wild thrill of a Sandwich Harbour dune tour to soaring above shipwreck-strewn coastlines on a scenic flight,” adds van den Heever. “With the combination of driving and flying, guests will experience Namibia from every angle.”
Prices start from $21,000 per person, based on a minimum of four guests. You can contact Ker & Downey Africa for more information.
