Extra’s New 145-Foot Explorer Yacht Can Cover 4,000 Miles in Style

Extra’s newest model will go that extra nautical mile.

Christened the X145 Global, the 145-foot explorer is designed for long-distance cruising with a dual-mode hull that combines performance and comfort. The Italian yard says the yacht has a range of 4,000 nautical miles, but didn’t give any details regarding the propulsion system. That is on the lower end of the range spectrum for explorers, but more than enough for transatlantic voyages. You can also expect reduced fuel consumption, stability, and seaworthiness, according to Extra.

The 145-footer is quite a looker, too. Penned by Agon Studio, the exterior is characterized by a high vertical bow, sleek, masculine lines, and high bulwarks. The robust steel hull is contrasted by a lightweight aluminum superstructure that is purposely minimal in design to maximise the views from indoors.

With a maximum beam of 30 feet and an interior volume of under 500 GT, the vessel has a generous open-plan layout with what Extra describes as a “game-changing distribution of space.” Designed by Hot Lab, the contemporary interior features elegant oriental details, geometric lines, and an abundance of glazing.

The upper deck is the heart of the vessel, with a scenic lounge that offers sweeping, 360-degree views, an upscale dining area, and a floating staircase connecting the levels below. Five guest cabins are located on the main deck, while the owner’s suite and adjoining terrace are positioned on the bridge deck for added privacy. The majority of the lower deck is dedicated to the crew, with four double cabins, a crew mess, a laundry, and a professional galley. There is also room for a gym if the owner so desires.

When it comes to relaxing alfresco, the beach club at the stern is equipped with fold-down platforms that open to create nearly 900 square feet of space suspended over the water. The nearby garage, located aft of the main deck, can hold a 28-foot tender, a rescue boat, two Jet Skis, and multiple water toys.

The Extra range includes three yacht linesFast, Triplex, and Global—ranging from 56 to 145 feet, as well as a 98-foot catamaran model called Villa. The yard says the new X145 Global is perfect “for anyone seeking an immersive and uncompromised experience with the sea.”
