“Working with Roberto has been inspiring,” says Michelle Jones, vice president of Delta Marine. “His vision is playful, expressive, and confident. He’s pushed us to think differently about what a Delta yacht can be.” Roberto is Roberto Curtò, the designer behind a new concept design representing a dramatic departure for the Pacific Northwest shipyard. The aptly named Delta 125 Longtail yacht is long on open-air enjoyment and escapes at sea.
In fact, Curtò calls special attention to the extended aft deck. Much like the flutter of a creature’s tail, he says, here “functionality finds its formal elegance.” The gentle slope and sculptural nature of the bulwarks keep it looking and feeling more united with the full design. You’ll further find amenities that cater to long days off the coast of areas like Curtò‘s native Italy, particularly the pool and surrounding settees and sunpads. The side settees slide for versatility, too, literally opening up the possibility of creating a waterside dance floor.
Since Curtò also designed the interior of the Delta 125 Longtail yacht (125 feet/38.1 meters), a similar fluidity and openness prevail. For instance, rounded edges characterize the large windows along the main deck. Windows in the staterooms below are round-edged, too, and even purely round. They’re additionally a bit lower, for that coastal connection.
Throughout the superyacht, including the main-deck master suite and bar in the skylounge, the Delta 125 Longtail yacht strives for a sense of relaxed refinement. Beach-chic tones, natural materials, and varying textures envelop a party of 10. Overall, the aesthetic is calming and contemporary without being pigeonholed in a particular era.
Between the design studio’s experience in naval architecture and engineering and Delta Marine’s construction experience, the 125 Longtail yacht project need not remain a concept. The shipyard is confident it can execute every curve at a customer’s request.
