Session One, July 2025 – I arrived for my first acupuncture session with Asha Chong at the Asha Chong Acupuncture Clinic in Wimploe Street, London, not knowing quite what to expect. Over the years, I’ve tried various methods to ease my long-standing insomnia, and numerous physio appointments, with no positive results whatsoever! I did have some acupuncture sessions many moons ago, so I was keen to try again. Asha came highly recommended and is known for her authentic Chinese techniques and holistic approach.
From the moment I stepped into her serene treatment space, I felt a sense of calm. Asha has a nurturing presence and takes time to listen. She explained that her method follows traditional Chinese medicine, focusing on the five elements, wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, to restore balance across the entire body and not just to target the symptoms.
The treatment itself was gentle yet powerful. Using ultra-fine needles, she worked on various meridian points, some of which surprised me, like points on my ankles and wrists. Asha also incorporated breathwork to help calm the nervous system. I left feeling unexpectedly clear-headed and deeply relaxed. This was a 90-minute session.
That night, for the first time in years, I slept through until 4 am without waking. A small but significant shift.
Session Two, July 2025 – My second visit felt like a continuation of something deeper, not just a treatment, but a rebalancing treatment. Asha asked how I’d felt since the first session, and changed things up a little. This time, she focused more on grounding my energy, which she explained is often linked to anxiety and restlessness, both key symptoms behind insomnia, since I fidget all night long, and suffer with endless restless thoughts, my brain just doesn’t want to switch off!
As before, her techniques were precise, and with her incredibly impressive knowledge, I could feel subtle sensations, warmth, tingling, and some sort of sparking sensations as she worked. It’s clear that Asha doesn’t treat symptoms in isolation but tunes into the whole body and uses acupuncture to restore harmony where it’s needed most.
Since the second treatment, I’ve noticed not only even better sleep but also a clearer mind during the day. I feel less restless at night, more chilled. It’s early days, just two sessions in, but I’m optimistic. There’s something profoundly healing in Asha’s approach, and I’m curious to see how the full course of four treatments will unfold.
Session Three, July 2025 – By the time I arrived for my third session, I felt more connected to the process and more aware of subtle shifts in both my sleep and overall energy. Asha welcomed me with her usual warmth and questions about how I’d been feeling physically, emotionally, and energetically since the last session. It’s this depth of attention that sets her apart.
This time, she explained she would be focusing on my rest, restoration, and energy, vital for someone experiencing dreadful insomnia. She used points along my inner ankles. abdomen, thighs and wrists, which she said help nourish my overall energy and calm my racing, restless mind.
What stood out most in this session was how relaxed I felt during the treatment. There was a point when I lost all sense of time; my body felt completely calm, a rare feeling for someone whose nervous system is usually running on high alert. Afterwards, I floated out of the clinic with a sense of quiet confidence.
That night, I slept until 5 am without waking, and more importantly, I woke feeling rested, a major shift. I’ve also noticed I’m far more balanced during the day, on more of an even keel. Asha’s treatments seem to be gently rewiring me at a core level.
With one more session to go, I’m already starting to view acupuncture not just as a short-term fix, but as a sustainable way to support my sleep and wellbeing long-term.
Last Session, August 2025 – I recently completed my final acupuncture session with Asha Chong, and the experience has been nothing short of amazing. When I first began treatment, I was struggling with dreadful insomnia, persistent back pain, and a general sense of imbalance in my overall well-being. From the very first session, Asha’s calming presence and deep knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine helped me feel genuinely cared for. Each treatment was tailored to my specific needs with care and attention, and I noticed a steady progression over the weeks: deeper, more restful sleep, less back pain, and a growing sense of mental and physical harmony. What sets Asha apart is not just her technical skill, but her ability to connect on a human level.
She takes time to understand not only the symptoms but also the underlying patterns contributing to them, connecting physical, emotional, and energy issues. The treatment room itself is peaceful, which enhances the overall process. By the time I reached my final session, I realised how much my quality of life had improved, my sleep patterns had improved somewhat, my back pain had reduced to a more manageable level, and I felt more focused in my day-to-day life. I’m truly grateful for the care Asha provided throughout this journey. While this may be my final scheduled session, I know I’ll return to her in the future for continued support. Her work has left a lasting imprint on me, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone seeking a holistic and compassionate approach to healing.
