Comedy Writer Mike Sweeney’s L.A. House Lists for $6.3 Million

After a little more than 17 years of ownership, Mike Sweeney has decided to part ways with his Los Angeles home in the leafy foothills of Los Feliz, just minutes from Griffith Park and the Greek Theatre.

The Emmy-winning writer and producer—best known for partnering with comedian and talk show host Conan O’Brien on the highly rated 2025 Oscars broadcast, as well as Conan O’Brien Must GoConan, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien—is asking $6.3 million for the Italianate-style spread he acquired in 2008 for $3.5 million. Sherri Rogers, Anthony Stellini, and Elisa Ritt of Compass share the listing.

Originally built in the mid-1920s and known as Villa Palazzetto, the stucco and terracotta-roof structure sits on a walled and gated corner parcel spanning over a third of an acre. Famously occupied in the 1930s by the late Hollywood screenwriter and director Delmer Daves, whose most successful work was the 1959 film A Summer Place, the property has six bedrooms and an equal number of baths in roughly 5,000 square feet across three levels.

Steps lead up to a hand-carved front door, which opens into a double-height entry foyer that flows to an elegant living room sporting a French stone fireplace and large windows overlooking sweeping views of Downtown L.A. The formal dining room connects to a kitchen outfitted with a white subway tile backsplash, an eat-in island, Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, and a U-shaped breakfast banquette set against a bay window. An adjacent media room has French doors spilling out to an alfresco entertaining area, while a coffer-ceilinged library comes with a Juliet balcony.

Three upstairs bedrooms include a secluded primary suite, which has a stately fireplace flanked by built-in window seats, plus a walk-in closet and a bath decked out with dual vanities, a pedestal soaking tub, and a glass-encased shower. The lower level, meanwhile, has a guest suite with its own entrance.

Topping it all off is the lushly landscaped backyard, which is dotted with colorful mosaic tile and offers a heated dining pavilion, an outdoor kitchen with a built-in barbecue, and a saltwater pool and spa. An added bonus: The property is located directly across from the Berendo Stairway, one of L.A.’s storied secret staircases.
