Max Verstappen’s Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport Is up for Grabs

A Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport that four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen bought new is heading to auction.

The car is one of just 200 made and has been driven not only by Verstappen but also by his father, Jos Verstappen, who was a Formula 1 racer in the 1990s with a couple of podium finishes to his name.

The 911 GT2 RS Clubsport was first shown at the Los Angeles Motor Show in 2018, and, at the time, Porsche said it was “the most powerful, non-street legal, GT customer sports car we’ve ever built.” The car is powered by a twin-turbo six-cylinder engine making 700 horsepower. The engine is attached to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It weighs just over 3,000 pounds.

Verstappen’s 911 GT2 RS Clubsport is a particularly nice example of the 200 built, having only around 1,361 miles on the odometer. RM Sotheby’s said it was sent to the United States from Belgium in 2022 and hasn’t been driven much at all since.

The auction is being put on by RM Sotheby’s, which says Verstappen and his father drove the car at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in January 2020 as part of the filming of a Dutch documentary about Max. Verstappen also signed the car three times, on the front hood, in the engine bay, and on the dashboard. Verstappen’s name also appears in the car’s infotainment, alongside that of his manager, Raymond Vermeulen.

Verstappen is said to have bought the car new in August 2019, perhaps even for the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport’s full price back then, which is around $475,000. The F1 driver also bought some extra wheels and tires alongside the car, which received some care from a Dutch racing outfit called GP Elite.

The car is meant to be a turnkey, track-only bit of fun for 911 superfans with some money to burn, and this one comes with an F1 champion’s stamp of approval. Still, it isn’t expected to sell for much more than its purchase price. RM Sotheby’s estimates it could fetch as much as $650,000 when it goes up for sale later this month.
