The ultimate abode for those with an oenophilic entrepreneurial spirit just hit the market in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Known as the Sage Hill Winery Estate, the nearly 10.5-acre property in Summerland, some 250 miles east of Vancouver, is home to a certified organic winery, vineyard, and mountainside house that each offer sweeping vantages of Okanagan Lake.
The lush parcel, formerly home to the Dickinson family fruit farm, was snapped up in 2006 by Sage Hill Vineyard founders Rick and Toby Thrussell after an extensive two-year search. For what, exactly? The grape-growing land of their dreams, of course.

“We began to build our home and reshape the old peach, plum and apricot orchard into our breathtaking organic vineyard,” they told Vancouver’s Scout Magazine. Now it can be yours for $11.9 CAD ($8.6 million) via Nate Cassie, Geoff Hall, and Scott Marshall of the Hall Cassie Marshall Group at Sotheby’s International Realty.
Open blue skies and verdant valley landscapes provide the backdrop for the house’s front yard entrance, where a curvy pathway leads to the nearly 4,600-square-foot structure. Past the wood-paneled facade capped by a butterfly roof, it both blends into the settings and capitalizes on them via the cantilevered living room, with three walls of floor-to-ceiling glass walls, the dining room set next to a two-sided fireplace, and the kitchen that flows out onto the rear patio.
The rear patio offers alfresco dining and lounging options next to the infinity pool.

The kitchen is great for entertaining with an easy flow out to the alfresco dining and lounging areas alongside the infinity-edge pool, all with unobstructed views of the horizon. Four bedrooms, some with L-shaped window frames that capture lake and mountain views, are complemented by four airy bathrooms with smooth wood finishes. Other highlights include a stylish wet bar, a wine cellar/grotto, and a home theater.
Aside from the property’s sun-splashed vineyard, the estate includes a tasting room anchored by a large island to gather around as well as an expansive scenic-view patio to taste test select vintages, including Sage Hills’s own Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris releases.
A large U-shaped island sits at the heart of the winery’s tasting room.

“The business comes with transferable contracts in place for the next owner,” press materials say. “Management and employees are willing to stay on to assist with a transition, or they can continue to run the operation in full for an absent owner.” The offering includes several long-term leases on neighboring parcels that will be handed over, in addition to the 10-plus acres of freehold property.
