NBA Star Kyle Kuzma Invests in Men’s Skincare Brand Margin

NBA veteran Kyle Kuzma is expanding his entrepreneurial portfolio by joining the men’s self-care brand Margin as an investor and adviser.

Kuzma, previously part of the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2020 championship team, is known for his keen interest in style and appearance, with his pregame tunnel outfits often going viral. Toronto-based Margin specialises in products for men, including face wash, cologne, and deodorant.

It is unclear how much Kuzma will invest in Margin. Athletes have increasingly targeted skincare as an investment opportunity, with tennis players Serena Williams launching Wyn Beauty, Naomi Osaka founding Kinlò, and Maria Sharapova investing in the sunscreen brand Supergoop. In the NBA, LeBron James launched the men’s grooming brand The Shop, while former NFL player Michael Strahan partnered with biotech firm Evolved by Nature for his own skincare line.

“I knew right away, especially as an athlete, you don’t have that much time to play,” said Kuzma in an interview. “The average career is three or four years. And so I knew right away that I had to be smart on my money because it can go quick, just like our careers.”

Margin is the latest in a growing portfolio of ventures for the Milwaukee Bucks forward. Shortly after entering the NBA, Kuzma used part of his second paycheck on a real estate investment, starting with a house flip in suburban New Jersey. He has since expanded into property and stock market investments, and taken stakes in consumer brands including Casa del Sol tequila and Barcode sports drink.
