There’s a very good chance that Justin Bieber may be headed back to the Grammy Awards for the first time in years. The pop singer kicked off a comeback this summer with his latest album Swag, which arrived about a month and a half before eligibility closed. Swag hasn’t reached the same commercial heights as some of the star’s past projects, and none of the singles have turned out to be career-defining smashes, but it’s good to have him back. With a long track record of earning nods at music’s biggest night, there’s certainly reason to believe that the Canadian talent will return with perhaps a handful of nominations.
Bieber will surely submit Swag and at least one of the album’s singles in the major Grammy categories, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. But as is the case with most musicians, his best shot at earning a nod seems to be in various genre fields, where competition isn’t quite as fierce, and where he’s managed to come out on top in the past.
The real question is, which verticals will Bieber’s music end up in, and can he expand his reach into categories he’s never seen before?
How Justin Bieber’s New Album Performed on the Charts
Bieber released Swag on July 11, after announcing its existence just hours prior. By that point, there was quite a bit of conversation regarding his career — or lack thereof. Bieber hadn’t released new music in years, and had been relatively silent, not even announcing that he was working on new material until he was ready to share it.
Swag debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and many tunes from its tracklist became Hot 100 hits, if only for a short time. “Daisies” and “Yukon” are the standouts from the project, and it’s with those tracks that he’s likely to focus his campaign.
Could Justin Bieber Finally Win Best Pop Vocal Album?
Swag will almost certainly be submitted for Best Pop Vocal Album. The singer has already earned four nominations in the hugely competitive arena, but he’s never managed to come out on top. Bieber has ended up a nominee with My World 2.0, Purpose, Changes, and Justice (Triple Chucks Deluxe), though he lost each time — first to Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster, then Adele’s 25, then Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia, and most recently to Sour by Olivia Rodrigo.
Will Justin Bieber Submit “Daisies” or “Yukon” for Grammys?
“Daisies” and “Yukon” are the two biggest hits from Swag. Either one could be his choice for Best Pop Solo Performance, depending on how he decides to structure his push.
Just as with Best Pop Vocal Album, Bieber has been in the running for this honor multiple times — three years, in fact — but again, he’s never managed to win. Bieber’s smashes “Love Yourself,” “Yummy,” and “Anyone” all competed, but those tracks lost to Adele’s “Hello,” “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles, and “Drivers License” from then-newcomer Olivia Rodrigo, respectively.
Could Justin Bieber Earn His First R&B Grammy Nomination?
There’s also a chance that at the 2026 Grammy Awards, Bieber will finally find himself in one of the R&B categories, which has never happened before. Bieber is largely known as a pop musician, but he has experimented with other styles, including dance, country, and even R&B, as he released a full album, Journals, that fits squarely under that label, which was passed over by the Grammys.
Bieber may want to submit one song in the pop field and another for R&B consideration. If he goes that route, he could work toward nominations for both Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song, which goes to songwriters. There is no such space in the pop genre for songwriters.
How Many Grammys Has Justin Bieber Won?
Throughout his career, Bieber has been nominated for 23 Grammys, and he’s only managed to collect a pair of trophies. He first won in 2016 when he joined Jack Ü — the pairing of Skrillex and Diplo — on “Where Are Ü Now.” That track earned Best Dance/Electronic Recording.
Half a decade later, Bieber ended up claiming Best Country Duo/Group Performance, a surprising win for one of the world’s most successful pop artists. That year, “10,000 Hours,” which was fronted by Dan + Shay and credited Bieber, was the champion.
Bieber was last nominated back in 2023 when Justin Bieber: Our World was up for Best Music Film, although that year Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story was the choice of voters.
Is Justin Bieber’s Swag II Eligible for the Grammys?
Bieber released a second installment of the Swag series, appropriately titled Swag II, on September 5. That album and the 20-plus songs featured on it, which are sometimes grouped with Swag for charting purposes, but which also count separately in some instances, are not eligible for Grammy consideration, as they arrived just after the eligibility period expired.
While Swag II, as well as tunes like “Love Song” and “Speed Demon,” won’t be in the running this year – but could be considered for the 2027 ceremony – the project does help Bieber in terms of visibility. Swag has not turned out to be his sturdiest album, and neither “Daisies” nor “Yukon” is the kind of smash he’s used to scoring. The release of another project does keep him top of mind when it comes to voters this fall, and this sequel may help the original Swag earn some love at the Grammys.
When Are the 2026 Grammy Nominations Announced?
Eligibility for the 2026 Grammys ran from September 1, 2024 through August 30, 2025. Nominations will be revealed on November 7, 2025, and the upcoming Grammy Awards will take place early next year.
