The Community That Redefines Western Living

The awe-inspiring landscape of Idaho’s Teton Valley may be the initial reason prospective homeowners in the Mountain West are attracted to Tributary, a private club community with easy access to the region’s four seasons of sports and outdoor pursuits. What’s not immediately apparent, however, are its underlying attractions—the easygoing lifestyle and small-town charm that contribute to Tributary’s strong community spirit.

At its core, Tributary is more than just a private club; it’s a way of life rooted in nature, connection, and the spirit of the Mountain West. With unmatched access to outdoor recreation, a welcoming community, and a unique sense of place, Tributary offers families the opportunity to slow down, dig in, and create the kind of memories they’ll want to return to again and again.

Special events highlight the seasons, like the Fest of the West, which is a family-oriented Independence Day carnival; or the foot-stomping fun of the summer Barn Dance, where members of all ages can take part in line dancing in the Recreation Barn. Fall brings the Cutthroat Classic, a multiday fishing event on the legendary trout-filled waters of the South Fork of the Snake River.

The adjacent town of Driggs adds to the array of cultural, community-building activities, all within walking distance of Tributary. The town maintains its laid-back Western persona, and does it without the buzz and crowds of other mountain destinations.  Summer brings an eight-week free concert series called Music on Main, courtesy of the Teton Valley Foundation. The audience is encouraged to bring a blanket and chairs to Victor City Park and settle in for the music. There is also a weekly outdoor farmers market, which sells fresh produce, cheese, meat, and baked goods, among other wares, from June through October. Restaurants, wine bars, microbreweries, and a craft distillery all add to the stimulating mix.

Meanwhile, it’s easy for residents to get to the iconic destinations of this corner of the world: Just 30 minutes away, Grand Targhee Resort has warm-weather activities like biking and hiking, horseback riding, and a chairlift that rises 2,000 feet for 360-degree views. Winter, of course, means downhill and cross-country skiing at the resort—considered one of the premier Alpine Ski destinations in the Rocky Mountain West—which currently offers a private lounge at the base of the mountain for Tributary members.

The town of Jackson Hole is a 45-minute drive, and the world-renowned attractions of Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks are less than an hour away. It’s also easy to fly into or out of Tributary, thanks to the Driggs-Reed Memorial Airport, just five minutes from the community’s entrance.

But why go far when nature is at the very doorstep of the club’s residents? Tributary extends over 1,500 acres, including 500 acres of fen-designated wetlands and a two-mile elevated boardwalk with views of wildlife—moose, eagles, sandhill cranes, deer, foxes, and trumpeter swans abound in the region. There are trails for biking in summer and Nordic skiing and snowmobiling in colder weather. The 18-hole championship golf course laid out by renowned architect David McLay-Kidd of DMK Golf Designs showcases views of the magnificent Big Hole Mountains and the Tetons.

And classic fly-fishing waterways like the Teton River, Henry’s Fork, and the South Fork of the Snake River are close at hand. Avid anglers can also fish Tributary’s private ponds, which teem with wild brook trout and are stocked with rainbow and Snake River cutthroat trout.

Natural beauty, recreation, a true sense of community—all these things make Tributary much more than an upscale private club resort. This is an authentic Western place with heart and soul, a home for family and friends that nurtures meaningful connections and contributes to memories that will linger for years.
