Among the noteworthy players who did not take the field because of injuries in Week 5 were Lamar Jackson (hamstring), Brock Bowers (knee), and Bucky Irving (shoulder). As we continue to try and navigate through injuries, both the Minnesota Vikings and the Houston Texans will be on a bye during Week 6. Keeping that in mind, here are five Week 6 fantasy football sleepers that you should target to help your team.
Michael Carter, RB, Arizona Cardinals
After losing James Conner (foot) for the season, the Cardinals then placed Trey Benson (knee) on injured reserve. With both players sidelined for Week 5 against the Titans. Carter turned 18 carries into 51 yards and one touchdown. He also caught all five of his targets for 22 yards. No other player on the Cardinals had more than four carries, so Carter looks primed for a busy workload moving forward.
Cam Ward, QB, Tennessee Titans
It has been a disappointing start for Ward, who has two touchdown passes and three interceptions through five games. He has also thrown for fewer than 220 yards four times. However, a matchup against the Raiders makes Ward at least worth considering as a streaming option in Week 6. Their defense has allowed 27.8 points per game.
Hassan Haskins, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are also without their top two running backs because Omarion Hampton (ankle) has joined Najee Harris (Achilles) on injured reserve. Haskins and Kimani Vidal are their best remaining options, and Haskins could get the first crack at additional carries. He has been on the active roster all five games, while Vidal didn’t play at all the first three games. Haskins could be a viable flex option in deeper formats for Week 6 with a matchup against a Dolphins team that has allowed the most rushing yards per game in the league on tap.
Theo Johnson, TE, New York Giants
This will be a short week for the Giants, who are playing the Eagles on Thursday Night Football. The quick turnaround is not good for Darius Slayton, who left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury. With him possibly joining Malik Nabers (knee) on the sidelines, the Giants will be very thin at wide receiver. Johnson already has nine catches for 50 yards and three touchdowns over two games since Jaxson Dart took over at quarterback, so he’s a viable fantasy option at tight end.
Mason Taylor, TE, New York Jets
Taylor has become more involved in the Jets’ offense as the season has moved along. After totaling three targets over his first two games, he has at least six targets in each of the last three games. He turned them into a total of 18 receptions for 150 yards. Not only is Taylor worth considering for a Week 6 matchup against the Broncos, but he will then have two matchups against bad defenses in the Panthers and Bengals the following two weeks.
