At just under 200 square miles, Lake Tahoe is the largest Alpine lake in North America, and when the first snow falls on the slopes, skiers, snowboarders, and lovers of all things après flock to the basin. There are three hotel options along Diamond Peak’s shuttle route, and the best is the lakefront Hyatt Regency. Only a few minutes from the ski resort, the property has plenty to keep you occupied, including a heated outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, spa, casino, and the Lone Eagle Grill with a two-story stone fireplace, lake views, and a must-order chocolate spin on a Baked Alaska, the “Baked Tahoe.” Though this resort is an old favorite of snowbirds, the hotel takes on a whole new life in the summer. In the warmer months, guests enjoy access to two restricted beaches, Incline Beach and Burnt Cedar Beach, with complimentary kayak and paddle board access, free shuttles, and private boat rentals.
