Ocean King Explorer 34M Yacht Encourages Discoveries

With a blend of utilitarian and luxury looks, the Ocean King Explorer 34M yacht is more than the latest model from Ocean King. She’s the first collaboration between the Italian shipyard and fellow well-known Italian naval-architecture firm Hydro Tec.

With its facilities near Venice, Italy, Ocean King constructs steel and aluminum explorer yachts in the vein that its former parent company built commercial vessels. Therefore, like the builder’s other series, like the Doge 400, the Explorer range prioritizes covering long distances. Buyers can expect a leisurely top speed of 13 knots for this 111-footer (34-meter) with either of the two engine packages from Caterpillar and MAN. Additionally, she should be able to put 4,000 nautical miles under her steel hull at 10 knots.

Complementing this spirit of chasing horizons, Hydro Tec has given the project a strong profile. For instance, the squared-off bow is reminiscent of tug boats or other purposeful, no-frills vessels. The full bow is high, too, for keeping seas and spray down. Guests who put the observation settee, nestled against the wheelhouse, to good use on voyages will definitely appreciate this.

Of course, the luxury amenities will appeal to guests and owners, too. Ocean King, which recently began targeting U.S superyacht buyers with Denison Yachting, is offering the series on a semi-custom basis. As much as this means wide latitude in arranging rooms and selecting the décor, the shipyard has several suggestions. For example, two twin staterooms and two doubles can accommodate family members below decks. Naturally, the master suite sits forward on the main deck, occupying about 291 square feet (27 square meters). A traditional dining area and saloon are aft, with the galley connecting directly to the dining area as well. Equally traditional, a cozy, 161-square-foot (15-square-meter) skylounge sits aft of the wheelhouse and captain’s cabin.

Since venturing to far-off shores is best experienced outside, the Ocean King 34M Explorer yacht provides three decks of customizable areas. A huge sunpad can sit prominently aft on the main deck, perhaps with a seating area beneath the overhang of the upper deck. Breakfasts and lunches once the anchor drops in a quiet cove can take place on either the upper deck or the sundeck—or both. Seating areas, a bar, and a barbeque are further possible for the sundeck, as are loose sun lounges fully aft. Finally, the transformer swim platform can become a close-to-the-water relaxation pad.

Checking out anchorages and the surrounding areas is best aboard tenders and toys, so to that end, the pocket megayacht has two stowage spots. Firstly, a Williams 505 DieselJet RIB can stow in the side-launching garage. Secondly, a waterbike can stow on the foredeck.
