One of the year’s top sneaker releases is returning for the holiday season with some minor new additions.
After Nike, Inc. went all-in on its 40th anniversary Jordan Brand campaign to kick off the year, the Air Jordan that started it all is coming back once more. The black-and-red “Bred” Air Jordan 1 High ’85, which first released in February, is set to return before the end of the year.
Fans may remember the painstaking reissue process Jordan Brand exercised for this particular release, which was intended to make the 2025 version of the sneaker as close to the 1985 original as possible. Every inch of the shoe was considered, from the thickness of the leather cuts to the intricately patterned rubber midsole and of course, the model’s sloping high-top shape. The effort paid off, as the retro resulted in a look that’s as close to a crisp vintage ’85 pair fans will get without having to pay exorbitant resale premiums.

Jordan Brand introduced the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 build in 2020, aiming to improve upon the sneaker’s modern reissues, which had lost some of their original aura over the decades. This year, to celebrate 40 years of Jordan Brand and the Air Jordan 1, the brand went even further, applying a meticulous makeover to the already refined silhouette. The new construction and shape was nearly unanimously praised, although many fans took issue with the style’s limited availability.
February’s iteration was said to be limited to 10,000 pairs worldwide, although Nike and Jordan Brand typically do not announce production numbers for specific releases. This holiday season, enthusiasts will have another shot to get the pair at retail, but it ultimately may not be any easier than the prior drop — the upcoming launch is expected to be even more limited than before.
The good news is that side by side, the upcoming launch appears to be an identical match with the coveted February drop, down to the vintage-styled cardboard hangtag. However, the new release adds a new shoelace option with metal aglets in black and metallic gold. Beyond the extra laces, the new version is expected to come in special-edition packaging, although that detail has yet to be seen.
While the specifics are being ironed out, what we know for certain is that the Air Jordan 1 Retro High ’85 Bred SP will return this holiday season for a retail price of $250. The Black/Varsity Red/White colorway has a style code of IQ6083-067 and is expected to be available from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Jordan Brand retailers.
