You’d like to think that a Toyota Camry would be one of the cheaper, easier cars to get into in 2025. However, I stumbled across a Reddit post where a person ended up catching thousands extra on to the MSRP at a dealership in Fort Pierce, Florida. There were prices I’d only pay if money meant nothing to me, and per the comments in this thread, everyone else feels the same. Listen, dealers are third-party, and I know they have to make $$$. However, when you are charging people a whopping $495 for nitro in the tires, we have some things to discuss. Or perhaps I can discuss them now while these dealers sit back and sweat a bit. Alright, stay tuned.
You’ll Have To Win The Lottery To Afford This 2025 Toyota Camry
There is a Reddit post that has haunted me for a few days, and I knew I had to share it. Basically, this shopper heads to a Toyota dealer, looks at a 2025 Camry SE, and sees a price tag of $39,792, while the manufacturer-recommended MSRP is $31,000. Now, my math is not always perfect, but charging nearly $10k more for a mid-level Camry is a bit much.
Typically, dealers can add stuff on and get away with it, as that’s how money is made, but this feels predatory. Many people don’t know better than to blindly believe the dealer and its pricing, so making sure to check that itemized price tag is a good initial step.
Would Anyone Like To Spend $40,000 On A Camry?
The Toyota Camry is a great car, don’t get me wrong. However, this example had stuff like $495 upcharges for nitro in the tires, $395 floor mats, $495 window tint, $395 smart dual USB, and a $295 pinstripe, which are clearly a rip-off at this point.
It also goes to prove that even with a declining auto segment and market, many locations selling new(er) cars, trucks, and SUVs simply don’t mind charging more anyway. I couldn’t say it better than this Redditor, “I know there are people out there who will not know better and pay for this stuff, which is so disappointing. $500 for nitro fill is insane, but then another $4500 for market adjustment.”
