Daniel Ricciardo Is Selling His Barely Driven Aston Martin Valkyrie

Being a Formula 1 driver comes with some serious perks, like access to some of the world’s best cars.

That’s how Daniel Ricciardo got his hands on a 2023 Aston Martin Valkyrie. And now that his bespoke supercar is set to go up for bid later this fall courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions.

Aston Martin may have its own F1 team today, but from 2016 to 2020, it partnered with Red Bull Racing. It was during this time that the British marque and then-Red Bull technical director Adrian Newey began developing the Valkyrie. The idea was to build a track-oriented speed machine that could also be driven on public roads. It was an ambitious goal, but by 2018, Ricciardo, who was in his final season racing for the team, told Top Gear he’d seen enough to put down a deposit for the $3.2 million supercar.

The Honey Badger would have to wait nearly a half-decade—during which time he changed F1 teams three times—but in 2023, he finally took delivery of the vehicle. Ricciardo’s Valkyrie, which is no. 89 of 150, is finished in Dichronic Blue, an iridescent hue nicknamed “Badger Blue” in his honor. The unique color, which is one of over $190,000 worth of bespoke options, can also be found on the roof strakes, side skirts, and wheel locks. Other add-ons include magnesium performance wheels, monoblock brake calipers, and carbon-fiber bucket seats for the two-person cabin.

The Valkyrie is a visually striking vehicle, but its most impressive feature is its electrified powertrain. The setup consists of a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V-12 and a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that combine to produce an incredible 1,160 hp. The car can also rocket from zero to 60 in just 2.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 220 mph. It may not be as fast as an F1 car, but it’s close. Ricciardo’s example only has 100 miles on the odometer, so it’s practically brand new, too. It’s even still covered by Aston Martin’s “Intensified” extended warranty.
