The borough of Alpine, aka the Beverly Hills of New Jersey, where superstars like Britney Spears, Chris Rock, and Stevie Wonder once lived, just gained a swanky European-style listing, courtesy of Avraham Tahari, one of fashion designer Elie Tahari’s brothers and a co-founder the namesake womenswear brand that launched back in 1974.
Avraham and his wife, Susan Tahari, commissioned local architect Robert Zampolin to design the gargantuan 21,000-square-foot mansion. It was completed by 2017, over a decade after the couple acquired the two-acre estate for $4.25 million, records show. Tahari is now asking $24.75 million for the eight-bedroom residence, with Attilio Adamo, Victoria Adamo, and Greg Vladi of Serhant holding the one-of-a-kind listing.

Adamo tells Robb Report that the Avraham’s inspiration for the mega-mansion was “the same sensibility that has guided the Tahari brand for decades,” and what he called a “global perspective” was used to factor in luxurious patterns, textures, and materials. “It’s a property that would live in the hills above Cannes or along the coast of Cap Ferrat,” he continues, “yet it’s right here in Alpine,” less than an hour outside New York City.
Past a circular motor court, a host of elegant design features present themselves, from its stone and limestone facade, where a towering arched doorway tucked into a portico embellished with Corinthian columns makes for a grand entrance to the home, to its mansard roof. Modern perks include radiant heated marble flooring.
The two-story foyer behind the wrought-iron and glass doors exudes baronial opulence, thanks to its gilt-trimmed details and onyx and marble staircase. A massive Murano glass chandelier dangles above the main reception area, which sits between the living room and family room. Coffered ceilings and Versailles parquet add to traditional elegance in the living room with seating space that sprawls out opposite a full bar. Nearby, the mosaic-tiled indoor pool and a spa sit beneath a massive circular skylight. French doors lead to a staircase lined with delicate murals of peacocks and vined florals.

Other highlights include the oak-paneled family room, which has one of the home’s nine fireplaces; an airy kitchen with dual islands; a formal dining room, which showcases hand-painted Venetian plaster moldings; and a cigar room.
A skylight illuminates the landing and curving walkway on the upper floor. Secondary bedrooms include custom closets and spa-inspired bathrooms, while the primary suite incorporates a wood-burning fireplace, an expansive balcony, a circular walk-in closet, and a plush bath with a glass-floored sunroom.

Alfresco dining and lounge spaces overlook the lush landscaping and pool from the terrace. Two brick cabanas and a full summer kitchen lie near the saltwater swimming pool and gardens. A comprehensive lighting scheme lends a sense of enchantment to the gardens and showcases design elements such as the eye-catching abstract mural along the bottom of the swimming pool.
“The scale, the indoor and outdoor pools, and the level of detail in every finish make it unlike anything else on the street,” shares Victoria Adamo. Those seeking the privacy of Alpine with the elegance of a European resort, where they can host 200 people for a gala or enjoy Sundays by the pool, may find it to be an equally custom fit, if you ask Attolini.
