Tribute to Yachting Photo Exhibition Showcases Guillaume Plisson

The work of Guillaume Plisson, one of the most well-known superyacht photographers, graces the covers and pages of magazines and websites globally. Through his keen eye, he highlights the signature details that make each project special. This week, it’s Plisson who’s being highlighted. The Monaco Yacht Show is hosting “Tribute to Yachting,” a photo exhibit exclusively featuring his images.

According to the show organizers, the exhibit is part of a larger effort to immerse visitors in the yacht lifestyle. From September 24 to 27, 100 of Plisson’s photos will be on display throughout the entire event. Furthermore, during the grand opening night on the 23rd, attendees will get to see a curated selection of photos. In both cases, the organizers say the showcase draws more attention to the artistry behind the industry. “With ‘Tribute to Yachting,’ we’re opening the Monaco Yacht Show to new forms of artistic expression,” explains Gaëlle Tallarida, its managing director. Showgoers can “rediscover yachting not only through its innovations or prestige, but through the deep emotions it stirs: wonder and connection.” In fact, Tallarida continues, “This collaboration with Guillaume Plisson reflects the MYS’ desire to celebrate the human side of yachting — the stories, the dreams, the quiet beauty that move us beyond the surface.”

Plisson agrees, emphasizing the emotional and storytelling aspects. “But, none of this would have been possible without the concrete and steadfast support of the entire industry,” he says. “Owners, shipyards, designers, crews… all contributed to making these image s possible.” Plisson additionally says, “By granting access to the yachts, sharing moments at sea, and allowing room for the intuition of my gaze, they have helped build, year after year, a visual memory of contemporary yachting.”

Plisson personally has strong ties to yachting, too. He grew up on a sailing boat, for instance. He soon discovered photography, and at the age of 12 became published in Paris Match magazine. His work capturing the start of the famous Fastnet race earned a spread (two facing pages). While plenty of boats have become subjects, Plisson has spent the past 15 years shooting superyachts.

Of course, Plisson continues to photograph superyachts. Simultaneously, he pursues another passion, that being spending as much time as possible enjoying the ocean. His motto: “Sail to photograph, photograph to sail.”
