When Tanya Saban and Lucie Klimes of the multidisciplinary design firm Broad Project went to work on their latest venture in L.A.’s Los Feliz neighborhood, the duo sought to convert a disjointed duplex into a cohesive single-family home.
Before the L.A.-based boutique firm’s involvement, the 1920s structure had two separate units with no internal connection. Now, thanks to their design wizardry, the property has been deftly transformed into one five-bedroom, seven-bath retreat that’s understated and approachable with a relaxed floor plan. Represented by Lauren Reichenberg at Compass, the 4,600-square-foot home and guest house is available for $7.3 million, a drop from its initial $8 million price.

The 1927 English Tudor’s original architecture was a big inspiration for Saban and Klimes, with details throughout nodding to that touchpoint—arches, textured stucco, and cobblestone pavers, among others. Wood beams line the ceiling of the first-floor family room, which overlooks the swimming pool. The chic chef’s kitchen sports dark marble countertops that contrast with the custom wood cabinetry.
The formal living room is somewhat unexpectedly found up on the second floor underneath a soaring wood ceiling with a small bar area tucked away beside an imposing fireplace. Also on this floor, you’ll find the primary suite, comprised of a muted bedroom, a serene bathroom, and, another unusual feature, a walk-in closet that’s nipped up into a third-floor attic space at the top of a private staircase. Other interior highlights include a spare office for focused work and an additional bathroom with a striking blue marble shower.

Hedges and verdant landscaping provide privacy while you enjoy the yard. The centerpiece is the pool and spa, but there’s also a small patio for outdoor dining. The guest house sits opposite the main house at the far end of the pool.
Located in the exclusive, gated community of Laughlin Park, the home is surrounded by the residences of Hollywood A-listers, both past and present. Natalie Portman, Will.i.am, and Kristen Stewart have all called the discreet enclave home. Ashley Benson, a star of Pretty Little Liars, sold her home in 2023 after just three years of ownership at a $4 million profit, and for the last eight years Angelina Jolie has laid claim to a two-plus-acre estate that once belonged to Cecil B. DeMille, though it’s rumored she’s getting it ready to sell.
