With her bold styling, the yacht RJ and her adventurous owners are poised to put nautical mile after nautical mile in their wake. They will do so amid an atmosphere of calm throughout the decks, aiming for down-to-earth beauty rather than glitz and glamor.
Cantiere delle Marche’s biggest boat belongs to repeat clients for the Italian shipyard. In fact, their first yacht from the team was a 130-footer (39.6-meter). Conveniently, construction had already started on that project when they learned about her. Therefore, they took delivery about a year earlier than they would have if they had commissioned her themselves. Prior to that, they owned several traditional fiberglass yachts. They made the switch because they ultimately realized a purpose-built explorer was more suitable. Long-range cruising is more than a goal for them, it’s a passion.

After cruising aboard their 130, the owners chose to take things up a level size-wise and design-wise. For instance, they have better independence from shore with the yacht RJ, thanks to a 5,000-nautical-mile range and abundant custom stowage. In fact, they requested voluminous refrigeration and freezers to accommodate spending multiple days cruising. Additionally, to avoid having plastic bottles aboard, the owners had a durable water-purification system installed. And, to handle waste, a refrigerated garbage room is aboard.
To ensure the interiors created the tranquility they sought, meanwhile, they chose Achille Salvagni. Overall, the décor reflects their Northern European heritage, understated and somewhat minimalistic, yet still with warmth. Butter-toned koto wood, for example, is the primary feature, with other materials like Rosa Portogallo marble lending a complementary peachy hue. Curved panels and organic shapes please the eye, too. Notably, many of the shapes draw inspiration from marine life, like coral or octopus tentacles, the latter evident in handles. Another striking but not ostentatious design element is the main saloon’s ceiling. It mimics the ripples resulting from a stone being dropped in water.
From the main saloon, which is the center of social life aboard, to the sundeck, the owners of RJ have plenty of places to entertain and relax. Enjoy this virtual taste of life onboard.
