Final Ocean Alexander 28E Yacht Finds a Home

After multiple years of production, the Ocean Alexander Explorer series is retired. Always intended as a limited edition, the series saw the final Ocean Alexander 28E yacht land in American hands. What’s more, the buyers had spent some time searching for a yacht suiting day after day of cruising and generally being away from shore.

The owners are first-time customers of Ocean Alexander, yet not new to the yachting lifestyle. In fact, they enjoy welcoming friends and family for trips from their home in Florida. Additionally, they did extensive homework, including sea trialing a variety of major yacht builders’ models during their search. Between starting the search at a boat show and subsequently evaluating the differing yachts on the water, they spent several years getting to this point.

Among the features that they appreciated was the sense of volume. They have a full-beam master suite on the main deck, for instance, with a picture window almost like a skylight. This, aboard a 95-footer (29 meter), no less. With styling and interiors by Evan Marshall, the Ocean Alexander 28E yacht has a glass-wrapped skylounge, too. Between the skylounge and four guest staterooms below decks, the buyers felt confident their friends and family would enjoy time aboard. Furthermore, another room below decks caters to multiple purposes. Primarily, though, the owners intend to use it as an office when they’re away from marinas for days or weeks at a time.

Outside, meanwhile, a few layout features kept their attention. Fully aft, folding platforms open up the already roomy, cockpit-like area. They can keep waterbikes or other toys here, launching them with the assistance of a standard davit.

Michael Tyrrell, a MarineMax sales representative in Pompano Beach, Florida, worked with the owners right from the start. “From the first conversation at a show to delivery day, the 28E kept rising to the top for its engineering, elegant designer furnishings, and space planning that works for real life,” he says. “The owners told me, ‘this is my first Ocean Alexander purchased but not my last.’”

“The Explorer series captured a clear market desire for greater volume, flexible exterior zones, and effortless operation,” Dan Mundy, Ocean Alexander’s head of global operations, reflects. “It is fitting that the series concludes with clients who took the time to compare the field and chose Ocean Alexander for the total experience, from design to delivery.”

Next up for the owners: enjoying the waters of Florida, the Bahamas, and likely the Northeast.
